(Granite Bay, CA) -- On August 22 and 23, 2008, Bayside Church of Granite Bay will host its fourth-annual health & special needs expo on the church campus at 8191 Sierra College Blvd. in Granite Bay. This free event, scheduled from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, will feature nearly 70 exhibitors representing health, senior and disability-related products and services, informative workshops, and creative activities for children of all ages.
“This will be an incredible, regional resource event for all people regardless of their age, health, or abilitiy,” said event organizer Dan Adragna. “Bayside has always had a huge focus on helping people in the community, and we have planned activities and brought together resources that will have a meaningful impact on people.”
This year’s event features health screenings, seminars, and a wheelchair tune-up and safety clinic. Activities for children include clowns, jump houses, face painting, crafts and more. Also, they will be collecting used, manual wheelchairs to restore and provide to people in third-world countries.
The annual event is sponsored by Bayside Church’s Through the Roof program. The ministry was founded by Dan Adragna in 2003 to assist children and adults with special needs through various programs and service opportunities. Adragna, who lost both legs below his knees, understands the challenges faced by people with impaired mobility and other challenges. After a toxic blood infection nearly took his life in 1995, Adragna felt compelled to use the second chance God gave him to serve others. Today, Adragna walks well with two prosthetic legs and coordinates Through the Roof ministry’s many activities and community events.
